A day in Glastonbury.
Today’s day out was Glastonbury.. We left at 8am to make sure we got there early enough to fit everything in..
We started off going round the Abbey.

The Abbey must have looked great years ago.

We were so lucky with the weather… we visited the outside tea room and Fi, Matt & Ollie enjoyed an Ice cream.

while Lloyd & I enjoyed a cuppa :0)
We then carried on wandering round the beautiful site. We spotted this ‘Monk’ but discovered he was not a real one, just one to get in the spirit of things and give talks.
We could see the Tor from the Abbey.
The kitchen had an impressive chimney.
and a great bread oven..

After the Abbey, we went round a few shops..and spotted this in a door way!
We had lunch at my favourite cafe…The Blue Note.. 100% Vegetarian and lush :0)
Dripping candle wax was stunning.
And this candle display was great.
This sign was really funny :0)
Fi and the green man having words !
Then it was time to visit the Calice Well Garden.. A firm favourite with Lloyd and I for its peace and beauty plus the red water, ice water healing pool and flowers..

There is a red spring which is high in iron..tasted vile but good for you. We fill up bottles and drink it or bring it home for cups of tea. Here is Fi filling a bottle..
Then we went over to the healing pool.. It is freezing cold water but once you get past the pain barrier it is really nice.. I think it freezes any pain away..lol

Once we had finished with the gardens, we headed up to the Tor…. An incredibly steep hill with a monument at the top.
The views atr stunning at the top and it is well worth the climb.
For some reason there were billions of flying ants round the front of the building… as we were about to head down, we spotted the swarm looking like black smoke coming out of the building… it was quite a sight.
Once back on the road and heading back to the town, we spotted this sign!
And this man who looked like an elf but was playing the small harp beautifully.
There are so many bizarre things at Glastonbury, there is never a shortage of things to photograph..lol
We finished our day with an ice cream for the boys and Fi..
and a ceam tea for Lloyd and I :0)
We had a great day despite the 2 hour journed each way, we are just lucky we do live so close. There were hundreds of tourists who had travelled thousands of miles to spend the day here.
