Day 3 on the IOW
Gosh, another very cold start to the day, was up at 07.15am..what is wrong with me? it is holiday I am meant to lay in!
Anyway, we trundled off to Yarmouth today to visit the Castle there.
It is well maintained and we got in free as we belong to the English Heritage :0)
The stairs were steep
but there were lovely views waiting for us at the top.
There was more inside with rooms and information areas..
We had a very nice lunch in Gossips Cafe at the entrance to the pier..
We then paid our 30p to walk along the pier..
I wonder how many people don’t pay tho..
The writing on the floor is where people or companies have paid to advertise so funding the new boards..what a great idea.
We went right to the end so we could photograph a huge Buoy which marked the spot where a shipwreck lies beneath.
There was a car ferry about to leave, didn’t seem particuarly full..
We were pretty cold by now so decuded to head over to Ryde for a walk round.
There we bumped into a good friend of mine and had a chat.
We walked up a steep hill of shops and came across a Thorntons Cafe…in for a hot choc with cream on top and a cake to warm us up :0)
We passed this shop with gallons of Jelly beans displayed,
We then went back to the car and back to the cottage.
